From Abergavenny take the Old Brecon Road to Pantigelli. Just after the Crown pub turn left signposted Bettws and Forest Coal Pit. After a mile go through Bettws past the wonky phone box and take the second turning on the right signposted Upper Bettws. Follow the lane past Rhyd Lanau house and barn then bear right up the hill on the private road to Upper Bettws.
